Dr. Kimbro received his undergraduate from Washington University in St. Louis and his Ph.D. in Molecular and Microbiology from Indiana University. In 2014, Dr. Kimbro received funding to continue his research in cancer health disparities and returned to the lab to study immunity and breast/prostate cancers, including type 2 diabetes and obesity. Dr. Kimbro is the lead principal investigator (PI) on a National Institutes of Health Transformative R01, the first time this type of grant has been awarded to an HBCU.

Dr. Davis is a classically trained molecular geneticist with expertise in genomics and systems biology, using her skillset to unravel the multifocal contributions to cancer risk, disparities in clinical oncology outcomes and link this information back to genetic ancestry, particularly Sub-Saharan West African Ancestry. She is the Assistant Professor of Cell and Developmental Biology, Weill Cornell Medical College, and co-author of more than 20 peer-reviewed scientific journal articles.

Dr. Ewing’s passion for health equity is personal. As a Black woman raised in the rural south, she recalls the long drives to access the specialized medical care. Dr. Ewing graduated from Rhodes College with a bachelor’s degree in biology. She earned her PhD in Genetics and Human Genetics with a specialization in Genetic Counseling from Howard University. Today, she is one of the few Black Ph.D.-trained and board-certified genetic counselors in the United States.

Dr. Rick Kittles is Co-founder and Scientific Director of African Ancestry, Inc. It is through his years of research on genetic variation and his passion for the movements of African people throughout the world that AfricanAncestry.com was conceived. In 2003, Dr. Kittles and along with Co-founder Dr. Gina Paige pioneered a new marketplace for Black people looking to know where they’re from in Africa. Under Kittles’ leadership, African Ancestry has grown into the leading provider of at-home genetic ancestry tests for people of African descent across the world.
