"Based on my research, Haplogroup M is Asian. Why do your results say, I am East African? What are the chances the results should be Madagascar?”
The answer depends on the haplogroup. There are some M haplogroups that are only seen in Asia, and there are some M haplogroups that are seen in both Asia and East Africa. For instance, the people of Madagascar have been observed to have L, which is the African haplogroup. They also have M specifically, M32c and M23 among others. There are also haplogroups E, F and Q, other South Asian haplogroups. There are also M haplogroups that are seen in South Asia, and so because of that, it's theorized that the people in Madagascar were founded by African Eurasian and South Asian people. And so, because these haplogroups are found among people from multiple disparate populations, (meaning they are kind of far away from each other), we can't speak to the specific chances or odds that the result is one of the other. We can only provide the best result based on what the designations we gave at the time, which is based on the scientific literature available at that time.
Science is ever evolving, and as in any field that evolves, things are always subject to change.
