Lisa Price, founder of Carol’s Daughter

From home-based business to Oprah to Disney, Carol’s Daughter is on its way to being a household name.

Originally started on the early 90s, Brooklyn native, Lisa Price began experimenting with fragrance, essential oils and natural moisturizers to make gifts for her family and friends. Soon, as buzz spread and demand increased, Lisa began packaging her products and a successful mail-order and web-based business began.

16 years later, Carol’s Daughter (named after her mother Carol) is a line of genuinely natural beauty products for the hair, skin, and body that has become a staple on the shelves of celebrity bathrooms like Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, Jay-Z, Mary J. Blige and many more. Lisa has retail boutique locations in several cities and her products are available in Dillards, Macy’s and Sephora’s across the country, as well as on the Home Shopping Network. Lisa and her products have also gained attention on the Oprah Winfrey Show, the Rachael Ray Show, the Tyra Show and even CNBC.

All Natural Products Made With Love

Nature, family and love are words that resonate for Carol’s Daughter and even today, Lisa makes sure that detailed care and attention is given to each product. Each product is still made by hand...just now with a lot more hands. And just as before, the products still carry delectable, fun, and appealing names such as the marquee products: Almond Cookie Shea Soufflé, Tui (pronounced “twee”) Hair Oil, Hair Milk and Jamaican Punch Sea Salt Body Scrub—with a treasure trove of family secrets ready to be experienced.

Creating the Magical Beauty Collection

Now, Lisa and Carol’s Daughter is working with Disney to make a new product line for Princess Tiana, the star of the upcoming film, The Princess and the Frog.

Magical Beauty (magicalbeauty.jpg)

With the introduction of Disney’s newest princess in more than ten years and the first African American Princess, Carol’s Daughter has launched a collection of hair and body products to meet the needs of every princess-in-training around the world. The Magical Beauty Collection is a four-piece line celebrating Princess Tiana’s hard work, determination, natural beauty, and universal appeal.

Each product features an inspirational message reflecting the values and lessons that Tiana learns during her journey, making the Magical Beauty Collection a way for girls to connect with Disney’s newest princess and feel like a princess at bath time.

“This is the moment so many of us have been waiting for and I’m so honored to be a part of something with such social significance,” said Lisa Price, founder of Carol’s Daughter. “I’m thrilled that young African Americans everywhere will see the movie and have someone to identify with, be proud of, and emulate. Princess Tiana will show women, young and old, that they can be beautiful and successful by being themselves and working hard—a powerful message that can’t be underestimated.”

Carol’s Daughter CEO Steve Stoute commented, “It will be very exciting to take my daughter to see a Disney Princess who looks like her, is beautifully brown and celebrated. And given Lisa’s story, it is especially appropriate that Carol’s Daughter is partnering with Disney on this project.”

The Magical Beauty Collection by Carol’s Daughter includes:

  • Shampoo (“The Beauty Within”)
  • Conditioner (“Inner Shine”)
  • Hair Detangler (“Dream Big”)
  • Bubble Bath (“Sharing Means Caring”)

They are available at Carol’s Daughter Stores, select Disney Stores, Macy’s, Dillard’s, carolsdaughter.com and DisneyStore.com.

The Princess and the Frog opens November 25, 2009, in Los Angeles and New York and hits theaters nationwide on December 11, 2009.
